AIDA Pool Competition safety freediver
The purpose of the AIDA Competition Safety Freediver Course is to familiarise freedivers with the safety procedures and rules in place during an AIDA freediving competition. Students will develop their knowledge and skills so they can act as a Safety Freediver during AIDA competitions.
This course is also useful to freedivers competing in a competition so they know what to expect from the freedive safety team. This course also builds confidence in dealing with rescue scenarios.
The course will show you how competition lines are set up and how the rules in a competition work whether you are safety, an assistant judge, videographer or athlete.
It is now compulsory to hold this qualification to be an official safety diver at UK competitions.
I trained with Stavros KASTRINAKIS , the AIDA International Education officer and Liv Phillip, the BFA Training and Safety officer a couple of months back to brush up on my own skills.
Duration : Theory Session, pool session, Open Water session and exam (typically 1 day)
Requirements : 18 years of age or older, hold a valid medical statement and be an AIDA** Freediver or equivalent.
Costs : £100
